Description

Symmetrical three-bay two-storey house, dating from c.1800, beneath a steeply pitched slate roof with tall shared chimneystacks. The walls are ruled-and-lined rendered over a projecting base course, and the openings are pleasingly although subtly varied in scale, having 3/3 and 6/6 timber sashes to first floor; the ground floor windows are boarded. Central square-headed six-panelled door having simple rendered pilasters and cornice. The building opens onto a border of original eighteenth-century cobbled street surface. It is part of a fine streetscape dating from the mid-eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries, lining the processional route to Down Cathedral. The building is vacant and in need of maintenance throughout. A vulnerable building that would make a comfortable home or business space in the town.
