Description

"Single-storey cottage adjacent to the main Belfast Road outside Enniskillen. Entry is via a porch with corrugated iron roof. The main block is rectangular-on-plan with an additional building to the west forming a rough L shape, though not connected to the main building. Windows vary in size and shape. The eastern-most window to the front is higher than others with lintel at eaves level. The chimney is of brick, but has been lowered and capped. The OS County Series 1st Edition (c.1830) indicates a single building on the site. The 2nd Edition (c.1860) shows abuilding added to the west completing its current L shape. The Griffiths Survey indicates it was occupied by John Carson with the immediate lessor listed as Robert Collum. The building had a value of £1.0.0. The building is secured with some evidence of monitoring and basic maintenance. However, it appears to be long term vacant. Retention of the roof and ongoing security suggests the retention of original interiors. However, the roof is in poor condition and possibly thatch under tin; is tied down with some recent ridge repairs. It is hoped that further works to conserve the building are undertaken.
