Exterior Description And Setting

A limestone and basalt rubble structure on a rectangular plan with two kiln openings in its west face, each with two sets of recessed segmental arches. Overgrown on top and used as a dump for cars. It stands in a rural location, visible from the main road but reached by a lane, on a site overlooking Larne Lough.

Historical Information

A lime kiln appears on the site on OS map of 1832 but the rectangular walling not until OS map of 1857.
