Exterior Description And Setting

Located on the NE edge of the town of Castlewellan, Nos. 65 & 67 form the middle and end of a three house, two storey vernacular terrace which is built on the steep rise of Mill Hill. To the far right of this elevation is a small crudely made shop front (No. 65)with an under sized wooden sign board. Above the shop window is a small timber sliding sash 2 over 2 window. The window sits on a stone cill which is considerably wider than the window. The SW gable is blank and smooth rendered. To the left side of the rear SE elevation (No. 65) is a crudely constructed small sliding sashe window (3 over 2) to first floor. There is a 2 paned casement window to the ground floor. There is no rear door to No. 65. To the rear of the small enclosed farm yard are two dilapidated outhouses. The front and side façade are finished in smooth render, while the rear is white washed rubble. The roof is slated with Bangor Blue slates and has four evenly spaced chimney pots. Those to the gables are original and those to the middle are recently constructed and are rendered and with concrete copings.
