Exterior Description And Setting

Right one of a pair of similar, but much altered, two storey houses set in a longer terrace. This property is two bays wide. Pitched artificial slate roof with two tall cement rendered chimneys - one on party wall, the other at right end. Metal rainwater goods with downpipe to right end. Walls are painted wet dash. Front door to left bay is modern and panelled. Windows to right and two to first floor - all are modern fixed lights with top hung transoms and deep cills. A dwarf wall and hedge enclose small front area. Left and right gables form party walls with adjacent buildings. Rear elevation not inspected.

Historical Information

A house on this spot is described in the 1835 Valuation as measuring 30ft6in x 17ft x 8ft high. By 1863, it had become two storeys high. Whether the original house was raised, or a new one built is uncertain, but to all intents and purposes, the present house is of mid 19th C date. Primary sources: 1.
