Exterior Description And Setting

Description at 02/06/2006: Building Demolished Description at 19/10/2000: A partially demolished single-storey, three-bay hearth-lobby dwelling aligned W-E parallel with Lurgan Road. Its roof is now gone, but was formerly thatched and covered with corrugated-metal. It had at least two chimneys – one to left gable and one to party wall between left and centre bays. Walls are pebble-dashed masonry (brick and rubble stone) over a smooth rendered and painted basecourse and narrow vertical bands to each end. Principal elevation faces N. It has a projecting windbreak porch set roughly to centre – left and right cheeks are blank. To its left is three window openings and to right are two window openings - that to extreme right-end has the remains of a 1/3 (horizontally divided) sash window (with horns) set within painted reveals and slightly advanced narrow cill. The left bay has a door opening to the extreme left-end. The left gable has a window opening to right and a door opening to left into former lean-to addition (now gone). The rear wall has been completely demolished. The right gable has a door opening set to right. First Survey description, dated June 1979. 'Single storey. Tin roof (over thatch). Harled and lime washed. Small paned casement windows and two in the Gothick style'.
