Exterior Description And Setting

A 2 bay wide 2½ storey with basement, shop front and gateway. The ground floor has a central 4 panelled door, upper 2 glazed, and rectangular fanlight with pilaster on each side, frieze and moulded pediment over. To the left a large square plain shop window with vertical plaster band on each side, cill and over a simple name fascia with lower edge scalloped. To the right a segmental arched gateway with sheeted wood doors. Over at 1st floor a double hung sliding sash 2 pane window assymetrical over the gateway and a double double hung sliding sash 2 pane window over the shopwindow. Each with plain plaster architraves rising from cills with moulded corbels under. These windows match No. 37 (HB05/14/010C) but slightly higher on the elevation. The wall smooth rendered and painted with frieze under gutter and plinth at ground level. ½ round gutter and natural slated roof and gable chimney stack. There are 2 dormers on roof centred on windows below, gabled, plain barge, slight overhang with double hung sliding sash 2 pane windows. The downpipe to left of elevation serves No. 39 and 37. To the rear a small back return, modern windows on the roof a wide flat roof dormer. Walls roughcast rendered and unpainted. No. 39 is similar in detail to No. 37 and the building line same.

A typical asymmetrical street elevation of the late 19th century with coach gateway. This is a late Victorian building with renovated modern interior, whose remaining original fabric is not of special historic or architectural interest
