Exterior Description And Setting


A 2 bay wide 2½ storey terrace house with basement. On ground floor a 4 panelled entrance door, complete with central door knob and knocker, rectangular fanlight over. Door framed wth plain narrow pilasters with plain frieze and cornice. To the right a double hung sliding sash 2 pane window. At first floor 2 no. double hung sliding sash 2 pane windows centred on width of house but unrelated to elements below. Painted cills. Walls smooth rendered and painted, painted plinth ½ round metal gutter, natural slated roof, chimneystack on ridge. 2 good dormers, gabled, with open fretwork barges and finials and matching those to No. 31. The rear of the building has a shallow back return, flat roof. There are a collection of windows, walls finished in smooth rendering unpainted. Roof natural slates, off centre dormer windows, gabled, bargeboards, 2 unequal panes to window. No. 33 is similar to No. 31 but without shopfront.

A simple 2½ storey house with basement of the late 19th cent. Simple elevational treatment with good entrance door and good dormers retaining their original detail. Of group interest with the similar building next door (HB05/14/010A)
