Historical Information

Described in 1970 Historic Buildings Survey as: ‘c1840, A two storey house with harled and whitened walls, slated roof and rendered chimneys. All windows are D/H with full glazing. The door is flanked on one side by a triple window and on the other side by a single window. There are three single windows at first floor level on the main elevation. A single storey annex is roofed with corrugated iron.’ However, building is not shown on 1848 Ordnance Survey Map. In the 1858 Griffith’s Valuation the house is still not recorded. William Young was renting ‘mountain’ from J Ogilby. The earliest date for the house is therefore 1860. Building originally listed as B in 1975, banded B1 in 1993, demolished in 1994 as a result of a misunderstanding of it's listed status, and was formally delisted on 21 July 1995.
