Exterior Description And Setting

Slightly hump-backed, rubble built road bridge of probable pre 1834 construction, carrying the Church Road over the Ballynahinch River. The bridge is located roughly 1.5 miles W of Crossgar, close to the S entrance to the Rademon House estate. A section of the wall has been rebuilt in part in recent years.

Historical Information

A bridge is shown on this site on the OS maps of 1834 and 1858 and marked ‘Rademan Br.’ on the latter. Given its hump-back, right-angle orientation to the river and general lack of fineness, it is probable that the structure we see today is pre 1834.
