Exterior Description And Setting

Only a Partial Survey was taken during the Second Survey as the building has been demolished / is not of sufficient interest to warrant a full Second Survey A single-storey, rubble-stone walled, thatch-under-tin house, dated pre-1832 with a 1.5 storey barn attached to the southern end, and 20th century single storey outbuilding attached to northern end. Sited close to the river Bann at the north end of the Derrinraw Road. The unsawn timber roof structure of the thatch roof, evidenced in the 1.5 storey barn is the most interesting remaining feature.

Evaluation

The main dwelling has undergone significant changes. Externally, walls have been sand cement rendered, brick chimneys have been added, and window openings have been enlarged and regularised, containing late 20th century timber windows, a modest porch has also been added to the front elevation. The internal plan layout has been altered. This building is not a sufficiently good exemplar of this type to warrant listing.
