Exterior Description And Setting

Circular basalt wall with sandstone coping average height 1500mm. Surmounted by a metre high cast iron railing painted white. The diameter is 6.00 metres approximately.

Constructed in circa 1825 as part of the first Ordnance Survey of Ireland by Lt. Colby. It was used to set up a triangulation with similar towers in the region (HB02/09/014 and HB02/10/012). References: Industrial Archaeology Ref: 1898.
