Exterior Description And Setting

This bridge was surveyed in the First Survey but not listed. A partial record only was taken during the Second Survey as the building is not worthy of a full survey. Description in 1972: A footbridge on the Bush river contructed of timber planks with timber ballistrades. There are four piers with salient angled ends upstream, three are of blackstone rubble and one, much reduced in size, of concrete. An unequal sided pier, triangular in section, rises from upstream end of second pier from the east side. Description in November 2012: A new timber bridge has been constructed on the original stone piers. An affixed plaque reads - 'The Three Quarter bridge' Replaced by the 5th Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment. Officially opened by Cllr Robert McIlroy, Chairman of Moyle District Council on 1st May 1995.
