Exterior Description And Setting


A group of single storey vernacular buildings with roughcast walling and tin roofs, now demolished and replaced by a modern dwelling. The First Survey card records: ‘5 single/sty cottages arranged in L-shape terrace. Roofs cor/iron & asbestos slates. Walls rendered & white painted on rubble. Windows generally D/H Georgn. panes. Some no astrags. Some not D/H. Doors generally sheeted but 2 flush panelled. Central projecting gabled porch on W. wing with entablature & pediment in timber & felt roof. Chimneys rendered & roof has gabled ends. Condition poor & somewhat derelict. W. wing about 80ft. Appears on O.S. map of 1834. Date of visit: 8/7/73'
