Exterior Description And Setting


The dwellings have been demolished and a new residential development built on the site. The First Survey card records: '2/Sty block of 2 houses. Roof slated & gabled. mld. barges. Chimneys rendered & mld. Walls rendered, lined & painted. Mld. eaves. Mld. Quoins & mld. base.. N.W. front in 3 bays. Outer bays - have twin F/FL D/H windows, horizon. astrags. 5/c arch heads & label mldg. Gr/FL has oriel, pitched metal roof, mld. eaves, D/H windows, horizon. astrags. Middle bay - has 2 F/FL D/H windows, horizon. astrags. 2 Gr/FL sets twin windows as above framed with pilaster jambs & mullions below entablature with dentilled cornice hood & blocking. Raised apron to sill. L/H windows have last entablature. N.E & S.W. ends have same gables & windows & projecting with entrance doorway. Segmental arch head, plain fanlight, panelled door. Jointed pilaster piers. Segmental arch recess on side face of porch with upper fanlight & decor panel with monogram. Condition fair but some bldg. work in progress, N.W. front about 65 ft. Date of visit: 18/7/73'
