Exterior Description And Setting


A dressed granite post on north verge of road. Measures c.30 x 20 cm in cross section; 35cm protrudes above ground. Rounded corners to top. Side facing to south finely dressed and inscribed PBW in 5cm high capital letters.

Historical Information


One of a number of stones marking the course of the Portadown and Banbridge Waterworks pipeline from Foffany Dam, opened in 1909. See also HB 16/07/048, /062, and /063 for identical stones. Shown on 1919 OS 6” map. There is a modern concrete marker post replacement immediately to its west. Primary sources: 1. OS maps, 4th edition, 1919, Co Down sheet 48.
