Exterior Description And Setting

Wall mounted domestic lever closed head pump. Cast on the side of the pump is 3" (refering to the diameter of the bucket barrel, a flag showing it was made by Lee Howl & Co. Tipton, England) and "Made in England". It is located at the rear of the farmhouse.

This is an increasingly rare example of an artifact that reminds us of a time when drinking water was not readily available at the turn of a tap. This pump is still operational and is situated in a traditional farmyard beside the vernacular house it once served.
