Exterior Description And Setting

A closed head lever type pump with a plain column and cap. It is inscribed with a flag logo (denoting manufacture by Lee Howl & Co, Tipton, England), 'Made in England' and 3"". It is a paragon cistern pump. It is mounted on the wall beside the back door of No 9 The Village, Ballyeaston.

Not on either the 1902 or 1921 OS 25 inch maps (PRONI Ref OS 10/1/45/11/1 and 2) but the omission may be due to domestic usage and lack of prominence. Further particulars in the EHS Report 'Water Pumps in Northern Ireland : A Preliminary Survey' by Fred Hammond, January 1997, Pump no 50.
