Exterior Description And Setting

A lever pump with a plain shaped column with spiral incised column. The original cowtailed handle has been replaced with plain tubing and the cap with a hinged piece of flat metal. The column is inscribed 'McCleave Holywood' around top. It is located in a roadside walled niche in the middle of a housing development.

Evaluation

This cow tailed pump has lost some of its interest as it has lost its handle and original top. It remains an important reminder of the time when drinking water was only available from public sources.
