Exterior Description And Setting


Description at August 1995: A cow tail closed lever pump with a plain spirally decorated column. The cap is missing. It is inscribed 'A Clyde, Ballymana' around the head of the column. It is located in a roadside alcove with a cast iron water trough in front. Description at August 2006: Pump and trough have been removed.

Historical Information


This pump is not shown on the 1905 OS 25 inch map (PRONI ref OS 10/5/37/6/1) but appears on the 1927 edition (PRONI ref OS 10/5/37/6/2). Further particulars in the EHS report 'Water Pumps in Northern Ireland : A Preliminary Survey' by Fred Hammond, January 1997, Pump no. 22. Pump was stolen c2002 and trough removed .
