Exterior Description And Setting


A two-storey/ three-bay house facing south east with lean-to extension to right gable. Pitched roof has natural slates, rendered copings, and rendered chimney to each gable. No rain water goods. Walls are of painted rendered stone with projecting eaves course. Main elevation has off-centre red t+ g door, with a 2/2 sliding sash window with painted granite cills on either side. Two identical windows in line on first floor. South west gable has one window to right side on first floor. Rear elevation has one 2/2 sash to the third bay on the ground floor and a small casement to the second bay on first floor. North east gable abutted by monopitched slated lean-to of painted and rendered stone. Modern door to façade, plain side and window to rear elevation. Garden in lawns surrounded by random rubble wall. Close to the house is a small gabled outhouse constructed in squared and coursed granite blocks.

Evaluation


A relatively unchanged and increasingly rare vernacular farmhouse with good window to wall ratio and attractive setting. It has a largely unchanged and simple interior.
