Exterior Description And Setting

Large, formal, two storey farm house, of perhaps c.1870s (or later), now finished in limestone chip render, with PVC window frames and large, modern flat roofed extensions to rear and north. The property is sited to the E of Dunevly Road, c.1.5 miles north of Portaferry. Front W elevation is symmetrical and has central timber panel door set in elliptical arch opening with patterned glass fanlight and two pane sidelights. Doorway arch has narrow smooth cement surround. Two pane PVC windows (made to simulate sliding sash and case windows, but all tilt and turn) to left of door with two similar to right. Five evenly spaced windows to first floor as before except for middle (third) window which is larger and made to simulate tripartite sliding sash and case. All windows have narrow smooth cement surrounds. South gable of main house has window similar to ground floor front to first floor. North gable has similar window with large flat roofed extension to ground floor with large two pane PVC window. Large two storey and single storey flat roofed extensions to rear. The E face of the two storey extension has one window to the ground and one to first floor. The E face of single storey extension has two windows. The N faces of the single storey portion has a door. to the left and a window to the right while the two storey portion has one first floor window to this face. All windows to the extensions are modern and are PVC. Main roof is hipped and covered with concrete tiles. Two central yellow brick chimney stacks with dentilled corbelling and uniform pots. PVC gutters and down spouts. Surrounding modern farm buildings and silos etc.

Though buildings are shown on this general site on the OS maps of 1834 and 1860, the overall design of this house suggests a building of perhaps c.1870s or later. In recent years modern extensions have been added to the rear and north side.
