Exterior Description And Setting

Two storey shop with gabled roof. Asbestos slated roof with rendered chimney to rear. Walls are pebble-dashed. Modern panelled door with transom light to right of street façade, with large modern top hung window to left. At first floor is a shallow headed opening with modern top hung timber frame. A crenellated parapet motif in granite runs below first floor cill level. At centre of this parapet is a niche with decorated pinnacle inside.

Historical Information

Shown on the 1835 OS map as part of the garden to no.13 (HB 16/30/020). The 1863 valuation notes it as being 1.75 storeys high, and occupied by James Fegan, secretary to the Newry Water Works. The peculiar design of the main façade might perhaps indicate the former garden wall. Primary Sources: 1.
