Exterior Description And Setting


Single arch road bridge of possible pre 1832 construction in random basalt rubble, carrying the Glenview Road over the Glenarm River. The bridge is located roughly 6 miles SSW of Glenarm. The bridge has a single arch with semicircular head and dressed voussoirs. To the E side of this is a small secondary pedestrian archway. Metal tie rods have been inserted into the structure. There are low parapets with rendered coping.

A bridge is shown on this site on the OS map of 1832 and all others thereafter. It is possible that much of the structure we see today is pre 1832, but with all structures such this, some rebuilding may have taken place.
