Exterior Description And Setting

Small, single arch, largely basalt rubble-constructed road bridge of perhaps c.1840, carrying the Loughdoo Road over a small stream. The bridge is located on the Loughdoo Road, roughly six miles S of Glenarm. The bridge has a splay at both ends and a single small semicircular arch with roughly dressed voussoirs. To the W face there is a buttress to the N side of the arch and a small date stone above. Metal grills have been placed against the arch to the E face (one of these grills is actually a farm gate). To both sides of the structure there are low parapets, also largely in basalt rubble.
