Exterior Description And Setting


Demolished and replaced by new houses. Described in the first survey in 1972 as "A three-storey, eight bay brick building with granite quoins. Dressings to segmental and semi-circular windows and eaves cornice are of yellow brick. Hipped slated roof. Sashed windows with vertical division."

Historical Information


Precise date of building not known but it appears on the OS map of 1902. Prior to that a number of buildings marked 'Beetling Mills' appeared on the site on the OS map of 1832. The Green Mill was described as "a good solidly built Victorian industrial building" in 1969, when owned by Thorer U.K. Ltd; demolished and site cleared in the 1990s. Part of the grounds lie within the area of an historic monument, no. ANT50:76. References – Primary Sources 1.
