Historical Information

A building is first shown at this location on the 1857 OS 6" map. In 1862 it was occupied by Hanna Murray and was valued at 10s0d. There is no change to its valuation thereafter. The first HMBB survey card of November 1983 describes the building as a “one storey thatched cottage of four bays. Door in windbreak porch and thatch dressed down to meet it. Scallops at ridge and eaves. Not thatched over gables. One crosswall brick chimney. Double-hung sash windows, two with horizontal divisions. Stone walls.” Primary sources: 1. OS 6" map, 2nd edition (1857), Co Fermanagh sheet 40 (PRONI OS 6/4/40/2). 2. Second Valuation book, Galloon Parish, Clones Union, 1862, p.16. 3. HMBB survey card, November 1983.
