This house is now completely ruinous and overgrown. The front wall partially remains along with the remnants of the window to right bay.

Historical Information

A school is depicted at this location on the 1834 and 1857 OS 6" maps (on the latter it is captioned Drumlone Nat School). The fact that it is not valued in the first Valuation book implies a small one-storey building similar to the present one. It is noted in the 1835 Ordnance Survey Memoir as having been established in 1833. It had 74 Protestants and 136 Catholics enrolled, of which 112 were boys and 98 were girls. It is supported by local contributions but “is under consideration of he National Board”. The Valuation revision entry of 1890 indicates that it ceased to be used as a school around this time, reverting to use as a house. It is no longer captioned as a school on the 1907 map. The first HMBB survey slide of 1982 shows the building to have been one-and-a-half storey / three bay with outbuilding. Half-hipped natural slate roof. Modern brick chimney set at party wall between each bay. Half-round metal rainwater goods. Walls wet-dashed with stepped quoins. Windows were 8/8 sliding sashes with horns and stone cills. Left and right bays each had a window. Central bay had a window to left and a timber sheeted door to right. Left gable was abutted by a lower outbuilding with pitched corrugated metal roof.
