Exterior Description And Setting

Lisnamallard Fort occupies a commanding position atop a gently sloping hill on the south side of a minor road. It comprises a circular area some 50m in diameter which is enclosure by a single earthen bank c.1.5m high by 3-4m wide (it has slumped to the inside) and mostly overgrown with scrub vegetation. There is no obvious trace of an external ditch. The ground to the inside rises slightly to the centre and is now used for rough grazing. It appears to have been an enclosure rather than a rath.
