Exterior Description And Setting

A much altered two-storey / three bay house aligned N-S on the N side of the road directly W of Newtownbutler Village. Hipped artificial slate roof with tiled skews and a wet-dashed chimney set perpendicular to ridge at party wall between each bay. Overhanging boxed eaves supported on timber brackets support ogee plastic rainwater goods. Walls are wet-dashed over a painted cement-rendered base course. Windows are top-hung timber casements with concrete cills. Principal elevation faces E. To centre is a modern panelled timber door set in a semi-elliptical headed reveal. The door is flanked by Doric columns raised on a plinth to either side and supporting a plain entablature. Semi-elliptical fanlight (with radial glazing) over. To either side is a window. Aligned above ground floor openings are three windows. S elevation is abutted at ground floor left by an addition. To its right is a window. The addition has a monopitched artificial slate roof and is detailed as house. S face has a window to left and to centre (that to left is obscurely glazed). Right cheek has a modern timber door set at right. Left cheek is blank. Rear (W) elevation has three equally spaced windows to each floor. N elevation has a window to ground floor left. Setting: The house is set in a maturely planted garden enclosed from the road by a modern balustraded boundary wall.
