Exterior Description And Setting

Site, to the rear of Second Comber Presbyterian Church (W of Killinchy Street, to the S of Comber town centre), of a single storey school house of 1861, later used as a church hall. The building was demolished in 1993 and a larger two storey hall built in its place. The hall was described when surveyed in March 1970 as a, ‘Single storey hall adjoining back of church. Roof slated and gabled on N face and W end. Walls of squared rubble. Windows drop hung, Georgian panes. Recent gabled entrance at SE corner- wall rendered, lined and painted. Condition fair. Frontage about 60ft’.

The church hall formerly on this site was built in 1861 as a school house, with it and the manse (built at the same time) funded largely by session member John Smyth of New Comber House. The building was demolished in 1993 and a new larger hall, with offices etc., built in its place.
