Exterior Description And Setting

Relatively plain and uninteresting terrace of c.1900 consisting of six two storey houses, largely identical. To the ground floor of the front NW facade of each is a canted hipped roof bay, with a doorway (to either right or left) with plain fanlight. To the first floor are two windows set on a cill course. To the rear each has a two storey return, most of which are gabled, with single storey sections added to the return rear of many. The terrace is gabled and has Bangor blue slates. The chimney stacks are mainly rendered. Most facades are finished in plain render and the window frames are entirely modern throughout. The terrace is situated on the SE side of the Killaughey Road, to the S of Donaghadee town centre. HB24/07/031A No.48 As standard but with flat roof to return and asbestos free slates to rear. First floor front facade windows are close together (almost paired). Single storey section to rear of return HB24/07/031B No.50 As standard, but with asbestos free slates and Velux windows to rear. First floor windows almost paired. PVC door. HB24/07/031C No.52 As standard but with cornice hood on brackets to entrance and small ‘conservatory’ to yard. First floor front windows widely spaced (as are those to Nos.54-58). Cast iron skylight to rear. Single storey section to rear of return HB24/07/031D No.54 As No.52 but with Velux window to rear and without ‘conservatory’ to rear. Brick chimney stack. HB24/07/031E No.56 As No.52 but with modern, partly glazed, front door and dry dash render. HB24/07/031F No.58 As 52 but with dry dash render, asbestos free slates to rear and taller return and lean to porch to rear of main house. Gable blank. The rear facades and the returns have minor variations
