Exterior Description And Setting


One and a half storey/ three bay house with gabled porch, on north side of Rathfriland Road. Pitched artificial slate roof with dry-dashed chimney to each gable. Plain bargeboards and eaves fascias with semicircular plastic gutters and plastic downpipes. All walls are dry-dashed with painted smooth render basecourse. Two-storey porch abuts middle bay of front elevation, which faces south. Porch roof has artificial slates tied into main roof above eaves. Right cheek of porch contains segmental headed doorway. Door is six-panel painted timber with segmental headed timber cobweb transom over. Gable and left cheek of porch both have a tall narrow 1/1 top-hung casement window to ground floor and similar to first floor (but diminished in height). There are identical windows to bays on main block at left and right bay of porch. All window openings have granite cills. Left gable has two small 1/1 top-hung windows to upper floor. On right gable are two 2/2 sliding sash windows to upper floor. The rear elevation is abutted by a single storey return, the roof of which ties into main roof. Wall openings to the rear have been modernised. To the rear is a yard which is enclosed at east and north by a two-storey outhouse of L plan. It has random granite rubble walls with red brick trimming.
