Exterior Description And Setting

A one-storey/ three-bay thatched dwelling on north side of track off main road. There was formerly an attached outbuilding at the west end, but this has recently been demolished to make way for an animal pen. Pitched roof with thatch under more recent corrugated metal sheeting. Stone verge to east gable. Vestige of chimney between bays 1 and 2. Lime-rendered and ochre-washed random rubble walls with roughly-dressed quoins. The principal elevation faces SE. There is a windbreak porch at the right-hand end of the middle bay, with beaded t+g door. There is a single window to each bay, all with dressed stone cills. The SW gable is blank (no connecting door between house and demolished bay). The NW elevation has a window to the middle bay, now sheeted over. There is an outward lean to this wall, indicating structural instability. The NE gable is abutted by a smaller byre. It has a corrugated metal roof with stone verge and unrendered random rubble walls. The tin sheeting over scraw laid on sawn lathes and rafters. There is a doorway to its front (SE) elevation, window to gable and infilled opening to the middle of the rear wall. The exposed section of the main block is blank. To the rear is an outbuilding detailed at the shed abutting the house (but without scraw roof underlay).
