Exterior Description And Setting

One-and-a-half storey/ two bay direct-entry vernacular dwelling aligned roughly E-W on the main Rosslea-Lisnaskea road. Pitched corrugated metal roof with a single brick chimney to right gable; formerly thatched. Half-round cast-iron rainwater goods. Principal elevation faces S. Walls are random rubble stone with vestiges of lime render. Right bay has a door set to the left and a window to right. Door is t+g sheeted with latch; over is a transom rising to eaves level containing a pair of 2/2 sliding sash windows. Window at right is 2/2 sliding sash with painted stone cill and reveals. Left bay has the remains of a similar window. Left gable is abutted by a lean-to (detailed as house) it has a door opening to front face. The exposed section has a window to apex. Rear elevation has a single window to left bay. Right gable is blank.

Evaluation

A direct-entry formerly thatched vernacular dwelling with transom over entrance door lighting the attic bedroom. Internally it retains some original fabric along with its traditional fireplace.
