Exterior Description And Setting


1 bay wide 2 storey terrace house. On ground floor 4 panel entrance door with plain rectangular fanlight. To left of door a single double hung sliding sash 2 pane window with painted sandstone cill. At 1st floor a single double hung sliding sash 2 pane window, of slightly lesser height than ground floor window but slightly wider, having a painted moulded plaster architrave, with cill supported on 2 no. moulded corbels (typical detail). Wall smooth rendered, lined, painted with painted quoins on one side. ½ round metal gutter, shared downpipe. Natural slated roof, plain ridge tile. Shared chimney with No. 1 Ann St. Roof has cement barge adjoining No. 1 Ann St. To the rear there are single windows at each floor level including basement which has door. The windows are modern inserts. ½ round metal gutter with shared downpipe. Wall roughcast rendered, unpainted. Natural slated roof and plain ridge tile. No. 3 is a narrow frontage terrace house contemporary with and similar to No.5. Each shares a long narrow rear yard.

Probably rebuilt around end of 19th cent. Some of the details are typical of Dallat, builder, who built a number of houses etc in Ann Street, Quay Road etc. at that time. See HB05/14/006B.
