Exterior Description And Setting

A 5 bay long 1½ storey outbuildings with 2 stage circular tower at one gable stone built and slated. The N E elevation encloses the grassed court beyond the coachhouse (see HB09/06/024D). 5 bays long with from the right 2 segmented arch openings without doors giving access to cart shed. A single sheeted square headed door with shuttered small vertical windows on each side. At 1st floor under eaves a single double door, sheeted, roughly centred on long wall. Wall stone built and whitewashed, ½ round gutter, single downpipe, natural slated roof, gabled at one end hipped at other. S E gable has a circular tower appended, built of random rubble stone, whitewashed, no external door but 2 narrow slits at top of each stage. Access to tower from within cart shed. Tower has conical shaped slated roof with weather vane on top. The N W gable and the long wall which forms the boundary to Springhill Road, are windowless and built of random rubble stonework. Linking rubble walls from coach house enclose the grass court. Random rubble walls continue on each side of cart shed along the Springhill Road to form estate boundary.

The cart shed and pigeon tower probably dates from the mid or later 18th cent, during the time of Col. William Conynghan.
