Exterior Description And Setting

One and one and half storey vernacular farm house of probable mid 19th century origin, which merges with a small out building to the N. The house sits to the E of the Moyad Road, roughly 1.5 miles S of the small village of Kilcoo, 5 miles W of Newcastle. The W front is in two sections, that to the right is two storey while that to that to the left is single storey. To the far right is the ‘merged’ out building. To the right but still within the single storey section is the front entrance (now without door). To the centre of the two storey section is a ground floor window opening with a similar central opening to the first floor. Both openings have lost their sashes. The two storey section is gabled and has a potless chimney stack to each apex. Much of this W façade is obscured by rampant plant growth. The S gable is blank. The E façade has one central first floor window to the two storey section with a small ground floor window to the single storey section. The far right of this section has a very low lean-to may have been used for livestock. The roof is finished in Bangor Blue slate, but is partly covered in plant growth. Rain water goods are missing as are most of the sashes from the windows.
