Exterior Description And Setting

A 2 room vernacular dwelling with central door and window on either side, stone built and whitewashed with corrugated iron roof painted red, gabled with one chimney at upper end and flat barges terminating the roof slopes. To the rear, at the upper end, a bed outshot, and one opening. Below the house and in line with it an outbuilding of the same length as the house with lower floor level and ridge and corrugated iron roof unpainted. The 2 windows to the entrance side of the cottage are of unequal height and the smaller retains its 12 pane sliding sash window now almost devoid of paint. The house and outbuilding sit at right angles at Muldonagh Road with the rear gable set back from the road verge. The land falls quickly so the house is on a downward slope and from the road one looks down on its roof.

No. 119 Muldonagh Road is interesting in a similar way to No. 121 (HB02/04/009). It has its vernacular character, its typical siting and its relationship to adjoining vernacular buildings. This building sits below the level of a minor road and at right angles to it. It has a corrugated iron roof and whitewashed walls. Though no longer used as a dwelling it is well worth retaining for its contribution to the local landscape and as a record of a building type of the 19th century. However listing is not a suitable form of protection.
