Exterior Description And Setting

Two and half storey/ two bay house, being the left one of a pair of mirror-image houses at the SW end of a terrace on NW side of Great George’s Street. Pitched artificial slate roof with a rebuilt rendered chimney set to left of centre on ridge (axis parallel to ridge). Advanced eaves course supports half-round plastic gutters. Front pitch has a canted dormer to left bay and a modern dormer to right bay (paired with adjoining house). Left dormer has canted artificial slate roof with central top-hung casement, fixed sidelights and artificial slated cheeks. Right dormer has a flat roof and modern top-hung casement window to front, artificially slated left cheek and dormer of adjoining house (HB16/11/034B) on right cheek. Principal elevation faces SE to street. Walls are cement dashed and painted. Below eaves level, and shared with the adjoining house is a moulded stucco plaque reading “1908”. Left bay has a two-storey canted bay with concealed flat roof with concrete coping. Each face on each floor contains a single modern top-hung casement window with painted concrete cill. A lean-to porch shared with adjoining house (HB16/11/034B) fills ground floor at right on bay. It has an artificial slate roof supported on small carved timber brackets at each end. Door is modern stained timber with six raised and fielded panels with a plain transom over. Over, to first floor, is a single window detailed as those to left. Small front garden is enclosed by a painted and rendered dwarf wall. Left gable is rendered, unpainted and blank. Right gable is completely abutted by adjoining house. Rear elevation not inspected.
