Exterior Description And Setting

Building demolished along with no.25 to its left. Replaced by a three storey building, five openings wide (to upper floors), artificial slate roof, rendered walls and shop frontage to ground floor (Walsh’s Pharmacy).

Historical Information

A building is shown on the 1834 town map, and described in the 1835 Valuation Book as measuring 24ft x 25ft x 19ft high. This is probably the same building which is described in the 1863 Valuation as measuring 8yds square by 2.5 storeys high. HMBB first survey card states: “c1800 three storey building part shopped on ground floor, with rendered walls and slated roof. Raised quoins to extremities. Double hung windows, four pane wide with glazing bars and also with single vertical glazing bars. Original shop window with panelled pilasters rising to frieze and cornice.
