Exterior Description And Setting

A 4 bay long single storey former church building with gabled porch. Entrance elevation gabled projecting porch with gable central circular window with plain architrave. Entrance door on S facing flanking wall. Concrete precast barge stones. S wall has 4 no. roundheaded vertical windows with margin subdivided into small panes and centre consisting of 4 larger panes, top segmented. At E end of wall a single sheeted door. E gable windowless, N wall has a lean-to narrow structure abutting it. Wall roughcast and painted. Roof slated, gabled with bargeboards. The building sited at an acute angle to Market Street, though when first built, entrance was from Moyle/Clare Street.

Historical Information

The Methodist chapel was built here prior to 1831. The O.S. Memoirs records a Methodist chapel here in 1831. Ceased as a Methodist place of worship after World War One. An unpretentious small 4 bay long former Methodist church of c 1830 neatly sited at an acute angle to Market Street. Not of 'special' architectural or historical interest however.
