Exterior Description And Setting

One and a half storey, two bay vernacular house aligned N-S on lane off Cottage Road. Pitched natural slate roof with a brick chimney to right gable. Advanced eaves course without rainwater goods. Walls are whitewashed lime rendered random rubble. Principal elevation faces E. Left bay is longer and has a windbreak porch to its right. Each bay has a window opening to each floor. Those at ground floor have granite cills. Those to upper floor appear to be more recent insertions; they are smaller and have cement cills (that to left is a 4/2 sliding sash). Porch has a monopitched natural slate roof. To its front face is a t+g sheeted door and its right and left cheeks are blank. There are low granite seats to either side. Right bay has a window opening to each floor. Left gable is abutted by the lower outbuilding of the adjoining property (HB16/13/64). Exposed section is unrendered and blank. Rear elevation has a window opening to either end of ground floor and one to centre of the upper floor. All without cills. Right gable is abutted by a lower outbuilding. The exposed section has a single small window opening set at right of apex. House is abutted at right gable by two single storey outbuildings and a linking low monopitched shed. The outbuildings each have a pitched natural slate roof with tiled skews; right outbuilding is set at an angle. All of no interest.

A building is shown here on the 1835 OS map, but has no valuation, indicating a one-storey structure. It cannot be tied to a specific entry in the second or revision valuations.
