Exterior Description And Setting

A long single storey pair of dwellings. A former hunting lodge/s with barn in line to W end 7 bays long. Each lodge has a central square headed door with 8 pane metal window on each side. Barn has single door. Walls harled, cast iron half round guttering and slates a mixture of natural and asbestos. There are 4 chimney stacks. To the rear is a continuous lean-to. All openings boarded up.

Finglen townland was in the proprietorship of Stewart Bruce in the 1st half of the 19th cent. The Stevenson’s of Knockan leased the land for shooting and built the lodges which are not shown on the 1830 O.S. Map nor the Rev of 1856. Are shown on the 1905 Rev.
