Exterior Description And Setting

Rubble built culvert face with partly blocked roughly 1m wide arch, built into an embankment a short distance to the west of the stables at Ballywalter Park, roughly half a mile south of Ballywalter. The arch has a vermiculated keystone and three now rusted small iron bars project from the face. These bars may once have been part of the support for a grill covering the arch. A c.1.5m wide bridge has been constructed just to the west of the culvert face, with a rough dry jointed rubble bridge screen over a small arch. The bridge track is covered in grass.

Whilst this culvert face shows some formality and may have been constructed at the same time as the laying out of the gardens at Ballywalter Park (c.1846-52), the bridge is much cruder and probably later.
