Exterior Description And Setting

Single-storey/ four-bay vernacular dwelling on NE side of Loughbrickland Road. Pitched natural slate roof with three smooth cement rendered and corbelled topped chimneys, one to each gable and one between 3rd and 4th bay. Three skylights to rear pitch. Half-round rainwater goods. Raised eaves course. The principle elevation faces SW onto road. Walls are smooth cement rendered with stepped V-channelled quoins. Stop ended chamfering to openings. Entrance door is on second bay from left. Timber non-original door with circular glazed section above with wooden hood mould over, three raised and fielded panels below. Small electric light above door. All windows are 2/2 horizontally divided with exposed boxes (middle window with horns) and granite cills. One window to first, third and fourth bays. Left gable is abutted by rubble stone shed with pitched corrugated metal roof. The rear elevation is abutted on third bay from left by brick kitchen annex with monopitched artificial slate roof.Left cheek is blank. Rear face has single 2/2 horizontally divided sliding sash window with horns. Right cheek has modern sheeted timber door with glazed top panel. The first and second bays of the main block have a single 2/2 vertically divided sash window. Right gable is abutted by a random rubble lean-to. Pitched corrugated metal roof, once covered with thatch. The exposed section of wall above is blank. There are small hedges and grassed area to front of house; the farmyard is to rear.
