Exterior Description And Setting

One and a half storey/ three bay vernacular house on S side of Drumlough School Road. Pitched natural slate roof with concrete skews. Four rendered and coped chimneys - one to each gable and one to either side of central bay (that between centre and right bay is a dummy). Skylight to front pitch (left bay) and to rear pitch (centre and right bays). Advanced rendered eaves course supports half-round metal rainwater goods. Walls are random rubble and lime rendered. Principal elevation faces E. Left bay is abutted at left by a single storey/ single bay concrete blockwork extension with a shallow monopitched corrugated metal roof. T+g sheeted door now collapsed at front. Window to right on remaining section of this bay (slightly larger than those to right). Centre bay has a lean-to porch with monopitched natural slate roof and concrete skews. Walls as façade. Its right cheek has a t+g entrance door and its front face has a window. Similar window on main wall to left of porch. All are small 2/2 (vertically divided) sliding sash windows with horns and without cills. Right bay has two windows. Left gable is blank. Rear elevation has a 2/2 sash window to left bay and a 6/1 sash to centre bay. Right gable is abutted by a lower outbuilding with pitched natural slate roof, rendered random rubble walls and brick dressings to openings. It is abutted by lower outbuilding with corrugated metal roof (of no interest). The remainder of gable is blank.

Historical Information

House with this footprint shown on 1834 OS 6” map; not valued (i.e. under £5). No change in valuation between 1860s and 1920s.
