Exterior Description And Setting

Single storey/ single bay ball alley pavilion at junction of Lurgancahone Road and Drumlough Road. Pitched artificial slate roof which cat slides from front pitch creating a veranda (see later) which is supported on four concrete posts (square in section). Terracotta ridge tiles with finial tile to right gable. Rendered and coped chimney to left gable. Half round metal rainwater goods. Walls are lined cement rendered. Principal elevation faces N. There are two windows to façade, both 3/3 sliding sashes (with horns) and concrete cills. The middle pane of each sash is broader. To right end is a timber ribbed door with semi-elliptical head, accessed by a single concrete step. Concrete veranda platform across front. The underside of roof is t+g sheeted. Left and right gables are blank. Rear elevation has a t+g sheeted door to left end with timber sheeted transom over. To its right is a window (as façade) with obscured glass. At front is the former ball alley, now a concrete play area. To the rear is small gravelled car park.

Historical Information

Not shown on OS maps up to and including 1919 edition, nor cited in valuation books up to 1930. Therefore of later date. When the ball alley became disused the building was taken over by Lurgancahone School as a playground pavilion. School is now closed and this building is vacant. Primary Sources; 1.
