Exterior Description And Setting


Two storey / three bay house, aligned N-South on the west side of Scrogg Road. This vernacular building has been completely remodelled and retains no features of interest. Pitched concrete pantiled roof with painted timber barge and eaves boards. Two pebbledashed chimneys with concrete coping on either side of central bay. Modern plastic rainwater goods. Walls are pebbledashed with smooth bands to corners. Modern stained timber front door is to centre and enclosed within a modern flat roofed glazed timber porch. There is a single window to left and right bays at ground floor and one window to each bay above. All are enlarged original openings with concrete cills and stained timber fixed windows with transoms over. Gables are blank. Rear is similarly altered.

A building is shown at this location on the 1834 OS 6” map. The HMBB survey card states: ''a two storey, three bay, harled and whitened house with slated roof and three chimneys. A gabled porch with modern door is flanked either side by unrecessed twelve pane sashed windows. Upper windows are similar. '' Primary Sources: 1. HMBB survey card ( 07/11/1972). 2.
