Historical Information

Recorded in 1970 as: “c1840. A thatched cottage with whitened stone walls, the front elevation is harled. There are two sheeted doors and three d/h windows on the front elevation. One window has full g.b., other a three pane sash, and the remaining window has sashes divided into two panes vertically. The chimneys are of brick work. The roof is in poor condition at ridge level”. Present occupants father lived in the cottage in 1970. He now lives in No. 295 Clooney Road (HB02/01/009). The building was demolished in 1981 when the occupants of the present bungalow were married. Occupants told us that the cottage was traditionally owned by the neighbouring farm No. 295. House first indicated on the 1855 Ordnance Survey map. Refrences: Historic Buildings Records Occupant
